I came across this design just this morning. It was an okay design, but lacked many necessary characteristics that make it practical and usable. Padding, Text formatting, navigation and a feeling of completeness were some that stuck out to me. The following is a list of some changes I made:
- valid xhtml and css
- NO <font> tags
- javascript mouseovers changed to css :hovers
iframe for fast navigation- navigation bar showing the current "location" on the website
- self-scrolling <div> for more efficient code management. (if the content extends beyond the size of the box, a scrollbar will appear allowing the text to be read, but the main browser can stay in place.)
As you can see there have been quite a few changes. Many of these are bluntly visible, but a lot of the improvements were made to the semantics of the HTML and CSS code.
Nevertheless, this was a wonderful design to begin with. homecookins did an excellent job. I would also like to thank caio1982 and MonkeyMan for helping out with the colors and giving positive input along the way. Thanks guys, you're the best!
I am glad that you chose to consider this design for use with your website, and I look forward to seeing it in action on the web.
Enjoy!-Josh Hansen
