This example uses the color named brown. Copy and paste the code and replace Brown with another color. It only looks like a rigid inflexible grid, but you can break out of the grid. Say what you want the way you want to say it.

"YOUR QUOTE GOES HERE.The text you want to float to the left goes here. We made ours brown. You can adjust the color. "

The rest of your text goes here. You can adjust the color, change the normal to bold and adjust the padding to suit your style. We used a width of 150 pixels on the quote but you can increase or decrease the width. Once you have the style in place you might want to try using a different font for the quote.

We are using the SPAN tag with a padding of 15 pixels around the image here. We want the text to appear above, around, and below the image so we put the SPAN tag in the middle of our text. The placement of the SPAN that contains the image is up to you. Try floating the image first and then type in your text.

We don't like the text aligned next to the image. But, we can float our boat image to the left of our text using the span tag. We have to type in enough text so that we don't run into the next tag and confuse the the browser. Or, make sure that we close the end with a break clear.

We like padding next to the image. We are using the hspace here. Most postings use a padding of about 10 pixels. We increase the amount of padding depending upon the size of the image or what we think looks better. There is no rule.

We like padding next to the image. We are using a 15px padding here. Most images look good with padding:10px. We increase the amount of padding depending upon the size of the image or what we think looks better. There is no rule.

And then put your text here. You can type as much as you want, just type enough to clear the float.

This is column in a small table where we are using the justify alignment within the table data. If you want a newspaper or article styled page you can use this technique.

The next column begins on the right side and aligns the text defined as text-align:justify. The justify is what spreads the text across the column in a newspaper or magazine style.

Your text goes here. Don't press the enter key until you start typing your text in here inside the box.

ALT SYMBOLS

How do you make special symbols?

  1. Make sure the NumLock on the numeric keypad is on (green light).
  2. Hold down the ALT key on your keyboard while pressing the numbers on the number pad (not the numbers above the letters on your keyboard).

Or, copy and paste the symbol from this table. The most reliable method is to type in the HMTL code &#174 where you want the ® to appear.

Examples: Alt Symbols

  • Type &#174 to render the ®
  • For the copyright symbol type &#169. It will look like this ©

.
